ELLE RISING STAR DESIGN AWARD

Can you believe it's one more day until the big event?  The Elle Rising Star Award comes full circle tomorrow when, after the much anticipated fashion show by the eight finalists, the winner for the very first Elle Rising Star Award will be announced.  I'm not involved in this competition at all so I only know from checking Elle's website for any updates.  These images are from the Elle Blog and are the latest pictoral evidence of what's about to go down tomorrow night.  

The designers are currently in Joburg putting last minute finishes to their collections and these pictures are of some of them, some of their looks, mood boards and accessories.  I lied, I am kind of involved in this competition.  My involvement goes as far as rooting for my dear friend Sindiso Khumalo.  I checked out some of her pieces via Elle.  The way she rocks.  She and the rest of them actually.  The standard in this competition seems really high and they have not only been focused on the design, but the business side of creating and maintaining your own clothing label - they've been going to lectures at the Gordon Institute of Business Science amongst other grueling tasks.  

This would have been a perfect opportunity for a reality show *wink wink* Elle et al.  The big day tomorrow night at Shine Studio's in Braamfontein and I am very much going to be all over it.  Tickets to the public are sold out so if you're not in the city, you will just have to watch it via Twitter.  Follow the hash tag #ellerisingstar if you like things.
