This is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen in my entire life. I cried and cried when I watched Funny Face with Hepburn frolicking around in in on her wedding to Fred Astair's character in the movie. It's a two piece that was made by Givenchy for the 1957 film.

Ride this town!

Just yesterday, I said to my friend that if I could, I would cycle to work everyday because the distance isn't that bad, and judging by the damage I did to my body this past weekend, I could use the exercise.  The universe doesn't work in mysterious ways because I got an email in my inbox saying that on the 25th of April, Puma released a new range of urban bikes in South Africa! The range of men's, women's and unisex bikes consists of four really slick looking wheelers with names like The Disco, The Funk, The Nevis and The Pico bike! Love them. Now if only one of these beauts would ride on over to my doorstep! They are available at Cycle Lab stores around the country. I wonder how much?

We need so much more of a biking culture in this town of ours! Everywhere else in the world, especially in any country that wasn't colonised by the Brits, like Mozambique and Angola, biking is the most popular mode of transport!

I'm not really sure how I came across this picture, but I just love it.  Not sure who took it or when it was taken but I found it here

what kate wore next

Hey everybody! I hope you all had a good weekend.  Although I enjoyed myself at various dress up worthy events this weekend, I'm not such a big fan of public holidays now that I'm in business.  It was tough being at the shop the whole weekend with the prospect of one or two or no customers coming.  Learned my lesson, next year I'm going on holiday just like everybody else.

If we were living in another country, say America or England where celebs rule, Dudu Zuma's wedding would probably be the subject of my post this morning.   But since we live in South Africa where people care more about that ZCC exodus to Moria than about one of Zuma's 21 kids getting married, I shall extend this legacy  by posting something about someone completely irrelevant to our news radar: kate bosworth.  I've only ever seen her in Blue Crush and on people's fashion blogs since.  Happy short week everyone. It's my birthday on Saturday :-)

She may have logs, I mean legs that resemble fire wood, but she sure knows how to dress.

MissMilli B goes behind the scenes of the Woolies Winter TV advert!

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Woolies recently invited me and a few other bloggers to go behind the scenes of their Winter 2011 Ad featuring some of South Africa's most famous tunesters! Bloggers be ballin y'all cos I was flown down for one day to shoot it and then keep quiet about it for so long! I'm so glad I can finally tell all this 2 min video. Hope you likey like! The final ad, which goes out one of these creeping winter days, is in the post below!

These woolies ads have been giving me goosebumps since I saw the first one with all those girls dancing about boots!

And now, this is the lastest Woolies has for Winter featuring a few celebs! It's not usually my kind of thing to post TV ads but I've kinda been involved in the behind the scenes so it's a little special to me.

A beautiful portrait of all the musicians featured in the ad. I'm so sad that I didn't get to see Hugh Masekela.

they haven't invented a word for this kind of cool yet

The Secret's Out!

A few weeks ago, I got a very friendly call from a very cheerful Durban person, inviting me to be a guest judge of something the 031 Collection presented by Mr Price.  I agreed and said she should rather email me because I was busy and needed to get back to preparing for the shop opening. I got the email and it turns out that Mr Price is sponsoring so to say, a new design competition called the 031 Collection.  It's similar to the Elle New Talent Awards, which Mr Price is also involved in but it only involves Durban designers.  So this was an already cool idea when I agreed because discovering new local talent is but my MO.  I knew that I was going to be judging with SA Fashion Week's Lucilla Booyzen, designer Leigh Schubert, whose work I have followed from the day I set foot in this industry but I had completely forgotten that they said that there's an international guest judge.  I literally exploded when my assistant, Zoleka, read that Agyness Deyn is that guest judge. She actually left the room and I'm convinced she's crying in the corner because she's so excited!

I don't think I need to tell any fashionista who this beauty is, but there's an office girl sitting somewhere in a boring job who could use a heads up! Agyness, whose real name is Laura Collins (not as cool as the uncooly cool Agyness) or Aggy as she's affectionately known, was apparently discovered while working in a fish and chip shop in the UK and since then, has been top of the pops of international modeling.  At some point she was said to be the next Kate Moss, something she cooly downplayed as she rose and rose to superstardom. She's walked for everybody from Marc Jacobs to Vuitton and has been the face of Armani fragrances and featured on Burberry, Mulberry, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood campaigns; and been on loads of magazine covers. I hear she sings in a band and has even had an acting stint, playing Aphrodite in Clash of the Titans.  Now, Mr Price is bringing her to share her expertise and to infect us with a little of her cool fever!

The competition will feature collections from Durban's finest including Amanda Laird Cherry, Terrence Brey, Leigh Schubert and young un Sibu Msimang! Can't wait for the 21st of May!

coachella chic

No surprises here, they all look exactly how I expected them to look - like Sienna Miller mignons 4 years later, but they look good. I would give anything to go to the Coachella music fest! But I think I'd look a little less L.A about it.
