If you don't live in Joburg, my sincerest apologies.

I took these pics last week at the latest exhibition by Zimbabwean artist, Kudzanai Chiurai titled State of the Nation.  The opening was in Newtown but the exhibition has since moved to Goodman Gallery at Arts on Main.  The whole of Joburg came out (I even spotted William Kentridge) for this lauded and exiled young man's sometimes spiritual sometimes violent and fervently physical exploration into Africa's past and present.  It's a pity most of the people that were there probably can't afford to buy paintings for R95 000.

It was worth it. The cherry on top was a moving performance by Thandiswa Mazwai and half of the Blk Jks Mpumi Mcata and Tshepang Ramoba as well as musician, restaurateur, artist and generally cool dude João Orecchia
