SEYDOU KEITA

Wednesday, March 14, 2012

I recently discovered the work of Bamakoaise (from Bamako, Mali) photographer, Seydou Keita, a man acclaimed as the greatest African portraitist of his generation.  His work is largely of arresting portraits of ordinary Malians in the 1950's and 60's.  He was self taught and only internationally recognised in the 1990's, when he was in his seventies.
