Suno

I thought that sadly, these amazing clothes were not made in Africa but it turns out, 70% of the product is manufactured by skilled Kenyan tailors after its developed and designed in the US.  This is a brand called Suno and not only do source fabrics from Kenya, they are putting the African aesthetic back on the map while doing it ethically - they employ Kenyan and Indian crafters to do some of the specialised crafts (not in that sweatshopy kind of way) and also work on developing their skills so that they can teach others. There's been a lot of talk about them recently so I though I would share the reason.  I wish we could stock them.  Go to their fantastic site for more!

Incidentally, about 70% of Suno's pieces are actually constructed in Kenya, so these pieces could very well have been made in Africa after all :-) I'd say contact them and see -- anything can happen! Just blogged about their new e-store, btw.

Oh, I went on their website and it said they are constructed in NY, and so did a friend of mine tell me. That's good news! I would love to stock their stuff.
