THIS WOMAN THOUGH

She's currently on the cover of New York Style Magazine.  I must say, I do wonder why she's getting this much media attention. I mean she's gorgeous and can definitely act but doesn't it feel like there's a different kind of adoration given to her than other black actresses? Is it because she's African African?  I can't put my finger on it. Either way, I'm very happy for her.

Every once in a while, Hollywood realises "Oh shit! We should probably add a little colour there - you know, so we can prove that ANYONE can get an Oscar and make it in Hollywood"

Not being horrible at all, I love Lupita and think she's stunning. But Hollywood has a looong way to go. Think about it, how far have black actresses really gone in Hollywood? Do Gabriele Union, Taraji P Henson, Sanaa Lathan, Meghan Goode, Tasha Smith, Sharon Leal etc not ALWAYS get the roles of hot black honey or scorned black woman in every. single. movie. Sigh... yinde lendlela

I share the sentiments with Zimmy, I think the media has that 'one at a time' mentality, let's give attention to only one of them at the time... how they choose that poster child at that time beats me.
She is beautiful and talented, they all are.

I totally agree with the ladies above. They choose one black woman every once in a while and punt her so hard that the world forgets what Hollywood is really about. I see no victory here. It's a shame, I doubt she'll be the screen siren/ it-girl everyone thinks she'll be, as beautiful and as talented as she may be.

Yeah guys, i'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. They went hard on this one and I just don't get why she's more darling than ones who have come before. I like her shame but it's creepy how Hollywood is creaming itself over her

I agree... you are all spot on about Hollywood. But Hollywood and its issues aside, Lupito is so dynamic. My friends and I are all "Wow!!!" over her. She is fierce - Grace Jones and Angela Bassett fierce! I remember Hollywood doing this ("going hard") on Thandie Newton and Zoe Saldana. As far as I can see Lupito is riding her wave - and looking fab-u-lous as she does it.
