Young, Gifted and it's irrelevant that they're Black.

Move over Dakota and Elle, Hollywood has new young child stars.  Ladies and Gentleman, the little lady in the top image is Amandla Stenberg (yes it's the Zulu word meaning power) and she's the 13 year old star of a film I've been hearing a lot about, The Hunger Games. Not into those kinds of films but I like her and I like the lead actress Jennifer Lawrence so we shall go and see that, but mostly for Miss Stenberg.  

Then, how grown up is Akeela from Akeela and the Bee? Look at her being all sexy with that lip pout. Good for you girl, 18 suits you well.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching her bring Kevin Spacey to his knees in Shrink.  Her next film is Virgin Mary, a comedy which she stars alongside Abigail Breslin and Carter Jenkins. Christina Ricci

Teenage angst personified.  Christina Ricci pretty much looked like how I felt when I was growing up.  Awkward, misunderstood, bewildered but deep down, super cool.  My sisters and I were obsessed with Mermaids and at some stage I wanted to change my name to Monday, just so I could be as cool as Wednesday Addams.  Ok that's a lie but I always thought she was beyond redemption in terms of how cool she was.  I bumped into Christina Ricci, listen to me, as if we know each other, more like I saw her and nudged my friend Marion, at the Tate Modern in London a few years ago.  She is pint sized and plenty of cool.  I hope you enjoy this little trip down memory lane.

I don't know of one red blooded person who doesn't have, even a teeny weeny crush on Solange Knowles. She has a blog called My Damn Blog and it's full of beautiful photographs of her, her child and her travels. She's incredibly stylish.

EASY DOES IT

It's no secret that in my next life, I want to come back as an Olsen.  Yes I am flirting with the depths of shallowness but at least I no longer want to be a Kardashian.  I don't wear real fur for ethical reasons but I won't fight it if it's made before the 70's.  I just acquired an amazing faux fur jacket and all I want when I wake up is for it to be snowing outside so I can wear it. I have tears in my eyes when I wake up and see the sun. All I want is to wear that jacket. Eish these girls, it all looks so effortless but it is probably meticulously planned - I think that is the basis of being stylish. Make it look easy and then drive Mili's favourite car just to up the ante on the torture.

Steve Jobs gave this address to Stanford University Graduates in 2005. This is the kind of stuff I wish we all spent more time thinking about. He made something from nothing - people like this really inspire me.

I think he is hilarious and have enjoyed most of the movies he's done - Knocked Up, Funny People and Get him to the Greek and I've always wondered how he felt about getting bigger with each new movie.  Some people even said his weight is what makes him funny.  Whatev.  Somebody who loves him clearly said that heart attack waiting to happen look needs to go and now....now he looks like this:

I'm not sure when the MTV Video Music Awards which were last night, are going t play in SA.  He presents an award with Nicki Minaj looking very good for himself.  I myself am on a mission to lose a few centimetres before the Marie Claire awards - I'm running like a mad woman and am only going to drink health shakes today...until I have the Bryan Boy brunch tomorrow.
