I'LL DO!

Sunday, March 25, 2012

I went into Aldo the other day looking for shoes and I ended up really focusing on this really fun and beautifully shot campaign.  Terry Richardson shot it and it features the lovely Lily Donaldson and Matthew Gray Gubler.  It's called Get Lucky.

I must say, I never saw this one coming. But it's here and it grows on you.

the most beautiful look book of 2011

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

This is the most beautiful look book I've seen in 2011.  It is the look book for Wild Fox Couture, which until a few minutes ago, I thought was an Australian brand.  It's actually an American brand started by friends Kimberly Gordon of one of my favourite blogs, ilovewildfox.com and Emily Faulstich.  Gosh they make dreamy clothing and even dreamier shoots.  I'm not a fan of the Western genre of film or literature (if there is such) but this just took my breath away.

Actually, now that I think of it, I used to watch The Quick and the Dead over and over when I was a teen.  I has such stars in my eyes for Leonardo di Caprio and Sharon Stone.  That was the only ''Western'' movie I liked, well that and Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman (dead).  Okay, so I dabbled in Western in my youth. This is the quality of look book Doreen and I will make for Mememe in 2012.  I might as well let the cat out of the bag - we will be working on a Mememe Range amongst other things in the new year. I truly cannot wait.
To see the rest of the shoot, go to the wild fox blog highlighted above or you can visit the website www.wildfoxcouture.com

Controversy killed the hate!

If only Benneton's clothing was as appealing or at least as interesting as their Ad Campaigns. This ''Unhate'' one is the latest featuring religious and world leaders like Barrack Obama and Hugo Chavez pictured above. There's one with Angela Merkel snogging former Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi and Pope Benedict planting one on Egyptian sheikh Mohammed Ahmed al-Tayeb. Naturally, religious institutions are up in arms especially in Catholic Italy.  Benetton has had to pull the ad out but of course, since its Wednesday release, we are talking about it. I just hope for their sake, it's going to lead to sales.

Lanvin Fall 2011 Campaign Movie

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

This is awesome. I love it when carrots are removed from fashionable arses and art can just dance and look foolish and flawless at the same time. This is Lanvin (See Alber Elbaz whom I always confuse with Azzedine Alaia right at the end. Bless him) Autumn 2011 Campaign featuring models Raquel Zimmerman and Karen Elson shot by Steven Maisel. So now everybody is probably going to start relaxing (i.e. other fashion houses will probably follow suit) and stop pretending as if we fashion people wouldn't be the first to get kicked off the island if we were ever to be in an inclusive of all humanity global game of survivor.  This will surely increase the likeability of God's perfect creations and the ones that clothe them.

This video gave me a some g-bumps when I watched it for the first time yesterday, not because it's awesome but because I WAS THERRRRREE even though I've got nothing to do with the ad really. Woolies called me and asked if I'd like to get the scoop on their new campaign for RE: JEANS starring Zoe Kravitz, Spoek Mathambo and Sannie Fox from Machineri and other cool and beautiful people. Er DUH. Da ya need ta ask? So off I went and I only met a few of them and had the honour of interviewing the beautiful and very down to earth Zoe. I will post the interview soon, it was so nice.

The pics are very raaa raa rock and roll and make me want to live inside them, wearing those clothes! They are really working on taking the blegh away from the RE: brand and I'm happy to be even a teeny weeny bit involved. Look out for the ad on the tele vision machine soon!
